海活第二弾、9月11日に開催いたしました。
おかげさまで、定員を上回る、５０名が、Greater Vancouver各地から参加してくださいました。参加者は０歳から80代くらいまでで、多様の年齢層、多様なバックグラウンドの方が集まってくれました。
10グループくらいに分かれて、1時間ゴミ拾いをして、拾ったゴミについて環境問題について各グループ代表者にお話をしていただきました。高校生の参加者も多く、なぜ海の環境を守ることが必要か、どうしてボランティアをしたいと思ったかなどに触れてくれました。
1回目同様、人との繋がりが1番嬉しかった、一人でゴミ拾いは、ちょっと戸惑うが、皆でやったら楽しかったと、初めて会う人たちとの交流を重んじてくれたかたが大勢でした。
最後に、疋田副会長のTSUKIJI FISH MARKET Inc. で大人気商品のアジフライやアナゴの炙り焼き、雑魚のように珍味が入ったおにぎりなどを試食して、懇親会を持ちました。意気投合した数人の参加者は、そのまま海辺を散策に出かけ会の主旨、人を繋ぐ、場にしっかりなったイベントは大成功で幕を閉じました。
次回のイベントでは、参加者から運営側に加わりたい者も出て、益々楽しい海活イベントになることが期待されています。
The second Umikatsu (Marine life protection activity) was held on September 11. Thanks to your support, we exceeded our capacity and had 50 participants from all over Greater Vancouver.
Participants ranged in age from 0 to 80 years old and came from various age groups, grouped into 10 and spent about one hour picking up trash. Each group’s representatives shared their experiences in the cleaning-up event and their general views on environmental issues.
Many of the participants were high school students and talked about why protecting the marine environment is essential and why they wanted to volunteer. Many of the participants were very happy to connect with others.
At the end of the event, we had a get-together at TSUKIJI FISH MARKET Inc.by Vice President Hikita, where we sampled their top-rated products, such as fried horse mackerel, seared sea eel, and rice balls filled with delicacies like small fish.
The event was a great success, and a few of the participants who hit it off went for a walk along the seaside, which was the primary purpose was to connect people and provide a place for them to meet. Some participants wanted to join the management team for the next event, which is expected to be an even more enjoyable Umikatsu event!
