The Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce,October 23, 2025It was held at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier in North Vancouver.Reception commemorating the 55th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Chiba City and North Vancouver CityI participated.

The ceremony included,Shunichi Kamiya, Mayor of ChibaandLinda Buchanan, Mayor of North VancouverIn addition, attendees included the Consul General of Japan in Vancouver, city council members, Lions Clubs, and civic organizations.
The two mayors said,January 1, 1970Let's reaffirm the sister city relationship that began in [year].Letter of Confirmation of Friendly RelationsWe signed the agreement, reaffirming our long-standing cooperation and friendship.

Mayor Buchanan emphasized the significance of 55 years of mutual understanding and cultural exchange, while Mayor Kamiya expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and touched upon the commonalities between the two cities as "seaside towns" and the spread of craft beer culture. Following the signing ceremony, refreshments and jazz music were served, further deepening the camaraderie among the attendees.

Celebrating 55 Years of Friendship between Chiba City and the City of North Vancouver

The Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce (Vancouver) is pleased to report its participation in the 55th Anniversary Reception commemorating the Sister City relationship between Chiba City, Japan, and the City of North Vancouver, Canada, x on October 23, 2025, at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier in North Vancouver.


Reaffirming 55 Years of Friendship

The event was attended by Mayor Shunichi Kamiya of Chiba City and Mayor Linda Buchanan of North Vancouver, along with city councillors, Consulate-General of Japan in Vancouver, Lions Club representatives, and members of civic organizations.
During the ceremony, both mayors signed a Reaffirmation Agreement, symbolizing the continued friendship and cooperation between the two cities that first began on January 1, 1970.


Remarks and Celebration

Mayor Buchanan highlighted the importance of mutual understanding and cultural exchange over the past 55 years, while Mayor Kamiya expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and noted the similarities between the two cities' coastal lifestyles and growing craft beer culture.

Following the signing ceremony, participants enjoyed light refreshments and a live jazz performance, creating a warm atmosphere of friendship and exchange.
