To all members of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce
110 years ago, before the war, there was a famous professional baseball team in Vancouver called the "Vancouver Asahi," a local powerhouse. The Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce has been supporting the revived team, the "New Vancouver Asahi."
Regarding four athletes who were active before the war (early 1900s), the whereabouts of those involved in Japan remain unknown to this day.The induction medal from the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame has yet to be delivered to the family.Upon discovering this, our Chamber of Commerce decided to cooperate in gathering information.
This activity is carried out by a resident of Tokyo. Mr. Yobun ShimaHowever, this volunteer activity began when he accepted the award on behalf of his uncle, Shoichi Shima, who is also a Hall of Fame inductee. The following is an article introducing Mr. Shima's activities.
