Karen Baker-MacGrotty, Vice President
Career corporate banker, served in executive roles on numerous societies/foundations Born in England, raised in Canada. One yr education in Kyoto and extensive travel over 20 yrs created affinity and enduring bond with Japan. Forward thinking. Lives life with passion and purpose. Father’s leadership instilled belief in building strong global relationships. As we emerge from Coronavirus and rebuild economies, my initial project to spearhead commemoration of the first Japan-Canada sister city through various cultural and friendship bilateral initiatives will act as a catalyst for hope, growth and success.

Yuji Matson, Director/Legal Affairs
Having been born in Japan but growing up in Canada, strengthening the relationship between the two countries has been a big part of my life. It has informed both my academic and professional careers. After studying about Japan and Japanese culture in university and living in Japan for a total of four years, I embarked on a legal career in Vancouver where I assist Japanese clients. Getting involved in the local Japanese community by serving on the board of directors of the JCCOC is another important way I can promote the strengthening of the relationship.
原崎 映理子 理事/会計担当
日本生まれ、日本育ち。１年間のオーストラリア生活を経て2000年にカナダに移住。British Columbia Institute of Technology にて会計を学び、会計経理関係の仕事に従事。近年はセールスやマーケティングも担当。2022年夏より、縁があって日加商工会議所と関わることとなる。
Eriko Harazaki, Director /Treasurer
I was born and raised in Japan. I studied for a year in Australia and then immigrated to Canada in 2000. In Vancouver, I studied Accounting at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and worked in various accounting roles. Recently I’ve taken on sales and marketing responsibilities as well. I got an opportunity to become involved with the JCCOC in the summer of 2022.

Kenki Miyanabe, Director/ Web/IT controller
Serves as JCCOC IT/Web controller. He was involved in multi-layered projects i.e. telecom startup, corporate finance & venture capital between Japan, China, and Canada. Fostering partnerships, investment, and alliances between two-sided entrepreneurs and venture capital firms or growth companies. My favorite quote is “Be the change you want to see in the world”
渡部 句美子 理事
在東京の３カ国の大使館勤務の経験から、日本の官庁、国内国外のビジネスやコミュニティを対象とする企画調整実行を得意とする。日加商工会議所では東京オリンピック企画の担当。青年海外協力隊（2005年・チュニジア・バレエ）OG、上智大学、英国ブリストル大学院卒。
Kumiko Watabe, Director
Specialist in business and cultural project coordination among public and private sectors in Japan, North America and Europe. Experience in serving for multiple embassies in Tokyo. Currently in charge of the Tokyo Olympic project by the JCCOC. A former Japan Overseas Junior Volunteer (Ballet, Tunisia, 2005 to 2007), BA, MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health.

ズームで日本の文化をカナダに紹介する活動として、例えばユニークな伝統芸能である歌舞伎や
古武術である居合道をいろんな視点からわかりやすく英語で説明する。
Junichi Tajiri, Director
1.My specialty: I am interested in traditional Japanese culture (performing arts such as Kabuki) and martial arts (such as Iaido).
2.Role in JCCOC: Japan – Canada Cultural Exchange Promotion
3.Current project, or plan or event in mind: For my zoom presentation, I would like to introduce a little about kabuki, one of Japan’s traditional performing arts and demonstrate Iaido forms and give a commentary.
加藤 真理 理事
日加両国の大学院で教育学を学び、25年間言語教育に携わってききた経験を生かし、学校や教育委員会と協働し日本とカナダを教育という橋で繋いできました。東京オリンピック企画ではカナダ人選手と日本の大学を結び、今後も国際交流の場を提供して参ります。大阪大学大学院言語文化学修士課程（MA）、ブリティッシュコロンビア大学大学院教育学（MEd）修了。日英通訳、日英翻訳担当。

With 25 years of experience as a language teacher and curriculum coordinator, I am specialized in connecting youths and students in Canada and Japan on various educational levels, collaborating with school boards of the two countries. Miki’s passions are diversity and inclusion, Intercultural study and relations. Through her business, MIki offers custodian services, academic advice and participatory leadership development programs for international students. She also offers inclusive education study tours for students, educators and policy makers of Japan. She likes connecting, supporting and empowering people. Building an inclusive leadership program with business organizations is her goal.
