日本カナダ商工会議所主催「姉妹都市プロジェクト」で継続開催中の【オンラインユース交流会・第４弾】を、2023年2月18日（日本時間2月19日）に開催いたしました。「姉妹都市プロジェクト」として日本とカナダの若者をオンラインでつなげて英語と日本語で交流を深める「オンラインユース交流会」は2022年2月に初回を開催して、今回で４回目。今回は大阪学院大学の公式サークルClub KCの幹部学生の皆様にも集客や販促をお願いし、まさに日本とカナダの両方で協働しながら開催にこぎつけました。
13歳から22歳の若者総勢50名近くにご参加いただき、Club KCのみなさんが準備してくれた５つのトピックについて、海の向こうの同年代の友だちと意見を交換し合いました。当初１時間半を予定していたのですが、終了時刻になってもまだ喋り足りない、名残惜しい、という表情が見てとれたので、急遽さらに2回のトークタイムを延長。30分延長となりましたが、9割の参加者が最後まで残ってまだまだ話し足りない素敵な交流会となりました。
イベント後のアンケートによると、60%の人が「英語をもっと話せるようになりたい」と答え、85%の人が「また参加したい」と述べるなど、若者にとって大変刺激的で有意義な交流会となりました。
カナダと日本の間には姉妹都市がたくさんあります。日加間姉妹都市で一番古い、ニューウェストミンスター市と守口市（大阪）は今年で60周年。それに続いて、バンクーバー市と横浜市は来年60周年を迎えます。日本カナダ商工会議所では引き続き、両国の若者をつなげ、友好の絆を活性化するイベントを開催する予定です。

Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce organized the 4th Youth Online Session under the Sister City Initiative on February 18th 2023. The event was greatly supported by the official student club of Osaka Gakuin University, Club KC, who collaborated in planning and promotion.
We had nearly fifty young participants aged 13~22 both from Canada and Japan who talked about five interesting topics to discuss the differences and similarities between the two countries. The topics prepared by Club KC members were all what young people would be curious about. The event was extended by another 30 minutes as many wished to have two more chats, and over 80% of them stayed until the very end.
60% of respondents of the post-event survey answered that they now “want to study Japanese more”, and 85% “want to join again.” The feedback tells that the session was meaningful and exciting to many young people who participated in the event.
Among all other sister cities between Canada and Japan, New Westminster (BC) and Moriguchi (Osaka) mark the 60th anniversary of their sister city relationship this year, followed by Vancouver (BC) and Yokohama (Kanagawa) which will celebrate their 60th anniversary next year. JCCOC will continue to plan events and projects to strengthen the friendship tie between the two countries in the future.
