To all members of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Report on the Welcome Party for the Wakayama City Business Delegation
As we welcome the new year, I hope you are all in good health. In February, we received a small welcome party and social gathering for a business delegation of nine people from Wakayama City, which was held on the following dates. Please see the report below for details.
In conjunction with this welcome reception, a business meeting was held in Richmond to develop sales channels for Wakayama City's specialty products. We are very pleased to have been able to warmly welcome our guests from Wakayama City, which not only deepens the sister city relationship between Richmond and Wakayama City, but also fulfills our Chamber of Commerce's objective of literally connecting Japan and Canada through business.

We have continued the following activities with Wakayama City since then.
◇In April, Sammy Takahashi, acting president of our Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited Mihama Town in Wakayama Prefecture.
I met the new mayor of Mihama-cho, Wakayama yesterday. Thousands of people from this area moved to Steveston in Richmond before the Second World War to catch salmon and make a living.
