To all members of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce
Happy New Year!
On Saturday, January 7th, the Nikkei Community New Year's party was held at the Nikkei Centre from 6 PM, and members of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce, including Chairman Sammy Takahashi, also participated.
Held for the first time in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was a great success with a full house of 200 participants. In attendance included Consul General Maruyama, who has been newly appointed to Vancouver as the successor to former Consul General Hatori, as well as representatives from various associations and organizations such as Kenyukai, Liaison Council, Discussion Group, Kiyukai, and Oufukai.
The meal was also wonderful, with traditional New Year's dishes served in bento boxes, Japanese-style desserts, and sake, creating a festive atmosphere. At the end of the event, there was a performance where participants danced to a traditional Japanese folk song, filling the venue and adding to the excitement.
I sincerely hope that this year will be a wonderful one for everyone.
