"Special lecture and dinner by Minister of Industry Emerson and Mitsubishi Canada President Matsuura"
Co-sponsored event with the Burnaby Chamber of Commerce
Location: Terminal City Club, Vancouver
Date and time: Wednesday, October 12, 2005 6:00pm-9:30pm
In British Columbia, designated as the "Asia Pacific Gateway," new developments have begun at both the political and business levels in preparation for the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver. As the gateway to western Canada, further increases and development of business opportunities with Asia-Pacific countries are expected.
In light of these circumstances, the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Burnaby Chamber of Commerce, hosted a special lecture dinner at the Terminal City Club downtown. The special lecture dinner featured David Emerson, the Minister of Industry, who plays a central role in promoting trade with Japan and other Asia-Pacific countries, which Canada is currently focusing on.
Minister Emerson has previously served as Director of Airport Authority and President of Canfor, and is known as a highly experienced figure in the business world. We also had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Matsuura, President of Mitsubishi Canada, about Mitsubishi's initiatives in Asia.
