Yokohama–Vancouver 60th Anniversary Online Exchange Program

Hosted by: City of Yokohama, International Affairs Bureau
In cooperation with: Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce (JCCOC)

Overview

The City of Yokohama and the City of Vancouver will celebrate the 60th anniversary of their sister-city relationship in 2025.
To commemorate this milestone, the International Affairs Bureau of the City of Yokohama will host an online exchange event connecting high school students in Yokohama with students and institutions in Vancouver.

In cooperation with the program, the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce (JCCOC) will nominate and coordinate a speaker from among its members.

This program aims to foster an international perspective among youth and provide opportunities to learn about different cultures and shared urban challenges.

On the day of the event, approximately 30 to 100 high school students from Yokohama will participate online from Kanazawa Zoo—home to the totem pole gifted by Vancouver—and engage in discussions with members of the Japan-Canada Exchange Circle at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the JCCOC representative speaker.

Participation as an observer is open to all members of the Japan-Canada Chamber of Commerce.
